It’s a fact. Cape Breton weddings are some of the most relaxed, easy-going and unworried weddings. Take for instance, the weather. We started out in Mabou (west) area where Carolyn and her bridesmaids got ready. The reception was in Baddeck (east) and the ceremony in the middle of the two locations. As the ceremony began it began to rain and by the end of it, it was pouring. If a couple felt discouraged by this, it would be understandable. Not Carolyn and Nathan. It could be that they have mad poker face skills, either way, they were completely at ease. Seeing that the weather was clear in Baddeck, we drove towards the town and hoped to out-run the rain. We came across a field with beautiful tall golden grass AND it wasn’t raining! This was our chance. We flagged down the wedding party’s booming limo. Carolyn and Nathan hopped out hesitation. Despite the wet grass, they were incredible sports and went where we asked them to go. As a result we got some golden shots that we love in this field.
It might as well have been a party when we were working through the family portraits. There was joshing and bantering, hooting and hollering. Who needs a venue when you have friends!
We had so much at Carolyn and Nathan’s wedding, it was hard not to. And we are so glad to have celebrated with these two, their families and friends in good Cape Breton fashion.
